ABC planning more HDTV shows
Source: The Hollywood Reporter; September 10, 2001

ABC is expanding the number of programs it broadcasts in the
high-definition digital format to include all comedy and drama series
as well as all of its theatrical films.

ABC said the expanded HDTV slate will bow Sept. 18 with the hourlong season premiere of "Dharma & Greg."

CBS also said last week that it would expand its HDTV broadcasts to include all of its comedy and drama series in the 2001-02 season. ABC was the first network to broadcast in HDTV with the November 1998 airing of the Walt Disney Co. animated classic "101 Dalmatians." Last season, "NYPD Blue" became ABC's first regularly scheduled TV series to be telecast in
HDTV.
